LOCATION

68 Cash Avenue Samford; approximately 21 km from Metro Brisbane. (Brisbane UBD Map 106, N15) Note: Access to site is only available via Samford Road and Cash Avenue.

Baden Powell Scouting park consists of 56 hectares of natural bush land in the beautiful Samford Valley and bordering the Brisbane Forest Park. Included within the grounds are accommodation blocks, camping grounds,15 mtr heated swimming pool, dam, abseiling tower as well as walking trails of various grades throughout the park. The Queensland Branch Heritage Museum is also located at Baden Powell Park (please inquire about open times).

THE CHARLES S. SNOW CONFERENCE CENTRE

The Conference Centre consists of an auditorium providing seating for up to 150 people with audiovisual capabilities. Associated with this centre are the following facilities:

  • Five air-conditioned bunk rooms (three with ensuite). One bunk room is fully equipped with disabled access and ensuite.
    Note:  In line with current safety standards, only persons 9 years of age and older my use upper bunk beds
  • Dining hall including tables, chairs, crockery and cutlery for over 60 people.
  • Three separate discussion rooms contain a table and six chairs in each.
  • Kitchen has a walk in cold room, commercial gas range, dishwasher and microwave oven.
  • Shade covered outdoor eating area.
  • Office area with some audio visual equipment available on request.
  • Additional accommodation (48 people) available in adjacent bunk huts – see below

BUNK HUTS

Six bunk huts each accommodating 8 people in double bunks surround an open air rotunda, which is located adjacent to the Charles S. Snow Centre. (Note: In line with current safety
standards, only persons
9 years of age and older may use upper bunk beds).
A brick and tiled amenities block is close by. These are suitable as additional accommodation for the
Snow Centre or as stand alone accommodation. The huts are not air conditioned.

PACK HOLIDAY SHELTER

The Shelter accommodates 20 youth and 8 adults in 4 rooms (One room sleeps 2, another room sleeps 4, another room sleeps 6, and another room sleeps 16. (Note: In line with
current safety standards, only persons
9 years of age and older may use upper bunk beds).
Need to provide own pillow and linen, crockery and cutlery are available.
Kitchen consists of full commercial gas, refrigerator and freezer.

THE PROVIDORE

The Providore sleeps 12 people in 2 rooms in double bunks (6 in each). Ensuite in one unit.(Note: In line with current safety standards, only persons 9 years of age
and older may use upper bunk beds)

 Facilities available:

  • Kitchen with commercial gas range, refrigerator and freezer.
  • Need to provide own crockery and cutlery.
  • Cooking utensils limited.

CAMPING GROUNDS

Baden Powell Park accommodates up to 800 campers along the banks of a creek in a natural Australian bushland setting. The camping grounds are wide, large and flat open
areas with pockets of trees for shade. For the more adventurous, numerous bush camping areas are also available. Hire of camping equipment can be arranged.

SUPERVISORS COTTAGE

Modern cottage (used by camp wardens over the weekend) is available for hire during the week. The kitchen and dining/lounge has recently been renovated.
The cottage contains a fully functional kitchen, bathroom and laundry with washing machine and dryer.

ACTIVITIES

In ground, solar heated, concrete swimming pool, orienteering courses, water activities on dam (canoes available for hire). The 15m abseiling tower and
obstacle course are available under strict terms and conditions.
